Victor Osimhen has been declared fit and available for Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final against South Africa.

The 25-year-old Napoli striker had been a doubt for Wednesday’s fixture after not travelling with the Nigeria squad on Monday due to abdominal discomfort.

However, Nigeria confirmed on Tuesday he has joined up with the squad in Bouake and trained ahead of the semi-final.

The Nigeria squad flew to Bouake, where Wednesday’s semi-final will be played, on Monday, but Osimhen stayed behind in the Ivory Coast’s capital Abidjan with members of the medical team to be assessed.

Osimhen has started all five of Nigeria’s matches at AFCON during their run to the semi-finals, scoring once as he levelled the scores in his side’s group stage opener against Equatorial Guinea.

The winner of Wednesday’s semi-final between Nigeria and South Africa will face either Ivory Coast or DR Congo in the final.

Nigeria are attempting to win the competition for a fourth time following their successes in 1980, 1994 and 2013.
