The Houston Texans and running back Joe Mixon have agreed to a three-year, $27 million contract extension, according to multiple reports. The deal reportedly includes $13 million in guarantees.

The Cincinnati Bengals, where Mixon played for seven years, traded him to the Texans earlier this week. He ranked third in franchise history in rushing yards, sixth in total touchdowns and second in carries.

Bengals trading RB Joe Mixon to Texans: Sources

Last season, Mixon was third in the NFL in rushing attempts, carrying 257 times for 1,034 yards. Mixon, 27, was set to join a crowded class of veteran running backs in free agency but instead, he landed with a Texans team that made a playoff run in 2023 under first-year coach Demeco Ryans and rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud.
