Just a few weeks after an Aspen ranch sold for $77 million, earning the accolade as Coloradoâs most expensive home ever purchased, another transaction has swooped in to steal the title. As the Wall Street Journal previously reported, the off-market deal was for an 11-bedroom mansion, sold by Patrick Dovigi, a former professional hockey player and now CEO of Green For Life Environmental Inc., and his wife, Fernanda Dovigi, an interior designer. The buyers, billionaires Steve Wynn, a real estate developer and art collector, and Thomas Peterffy, a financier and founder of Interactive Brokers, bought the home together. The deal just closed, Robb Report shares, with the pair paying $108 million for the residence.
The 22,000-square-foot abode sits on four and a half acres at the base of Aspenâs Red
Mountain. The home, which was built in 2006, is designed in the modern mountain style, defined by sloped roofs and an expansive glass façade. Photos published by the Wall Street Journal show interiors outfitted with stone-clad columns and timber trusses, reminiscent of the material palette found in the local landscape. There is also a guesthouse and heated outdoor pool.
Though now Coloradoâs most expensive home, the property also represents the first nine-figure deal in the state. Aspen is one of the priciest markets in the Centennial State, and Woody Creek, a small town eight miles north of the city, boasts one of the most expensive zip codes in the country. According to the Wall Street Journal, itâs unclear why Wynn and Peterffy are purchasing the property together. It is reported that theyâre friends and live close to each other in Palm Beach. In addition to their respective Florida abodes, Wynn also owns an apartment in Manhattan.
