Micky van de Ven is unlikely to have suffered a serious injury but is expected to miss Tottenham Hotspur’s upcoming match against Fulham this Saturday, boss Ange Postecoglou has said.

The Netherlands international was substituted off in the 49th minute of Tottenham’s four-goal victory away at Aston Villa last Sunday with what appeared to be a hamstring problem. He was also included in his nation’s provisional squad for their upcoming fixtures against Scotland on March 22 and Germany four days later.

Van de Ven, 22, missed two months of action between November and January with a hamstring injury. He also had a similar issue while playing at former club Wolfsburg, being sidelined between February and April 2022.

Tottenham travel to Fulham in their final match before the March international break, and Postecoglou is confident the centre-back won’t be out for a significant period of time.

“We are still getting all the information on him, but he’s unlikely to be back this weekend,” Postecoglou told Sky Sports on Wednesday.

“I don’t think it is anything major and we will probably get some more information at the back end of the week.

“He is unlikely (to be available) for Fulham, but with the international break, hopefully he doesn’t miss too much after that.”

Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League, two points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, who have played one game more.

Postecoglou’s side will return to action following the international break with a home clash against Luton Town on March 30.
