LAS VEGAS — Two shirtless individuals ran onto the field during the third quarter of Sunday’s Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium.

The scene unfolded during a play in which the Chiefs had the ball. The game proceeded unimpeded while security simultaneously attempted to corral the fans who were running around the field.

Since the streakers were on the opposite side of the field, play never stopped. Once the play was over and the two men were escorted off, the referees announced that the play would count because it was determined that the fans didn’t impact the outcome.

Shortly after, Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker made a 57-yard field goal, the longest field goal in Super Bowl history, to cut the 49ers’ lead to 10-6 with 5:01 to go in the quarter.

This is the second time the Chiefs have played in a Super Bowl where fans made their way onto the field. During their loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2021 event, there was another incident in which a fan ran onto the field before eventually being tackled.
