Starting with just $240 in his bank account, Michael Bacon left his hometown at 18 and moved to Brisbane, where he quickly worked his way up through the ranks of the real estate industry.

“I’ve always had the belief that at the end of the day, the only person that can change things in your life is the person in the mirror,” Mr Bacon said.

“If you want to go as far as you want to go, well, one, you need the right circle of influence of people around you, and two, you need to have belief in yourself to get there.”

His journey from associate to agent, lead agent, and now co-director and partner showcases what’s possible with the right mindset and work ethic.

Mr Bacon puts much of his success down to staying true to himself and avoiding the typical real estate agent stereotype.

“Be yourself,” he said.

“Don’t be like any other agent, just be yourself and be a human being.

“People want to know who you are as a person, not who you portray to be.”

Known for his innovative marketing campaigns, Mr Bacon has established himself as a leader in digital marketing within the industry.

His strategy focuses on authentic content creation and finding unique ways to showcase properties.

“Have a look at people that are doing it well,” he said.

“Don’t copy them, but put your own taste on it.

“Being authentic in the content that you produce for properties gets a lot further reach.”

Despite his already impressive achievements, Mr Bacon has his sights set on even bigger goals.

“The greater vision now is for the office to have one of the best real estate offices in Queensland, let alone Australia,” he said.

For aspiring agents, Mr Bacon said he has three pieces of advice including to just be yourself, understand your motivation for entering the industry, and be prepared to outwork everyone else.

“You need to understand what your ‘why’ is and have a vision of where you want to go in your life,” he said.

“Otherwise, it’s very hard to get there.”

Michael Bacon will be on a panel at The One Conference discussing his journey from being an Associate to Lead Agent to more recently a Co Director.
