Fox News’ Jesse Watters took exception to Doug Emhoff accompanying Kamala Harris to a store on his show Thursday night, asking viewers: “What kind of husband goes grocery shopping with his wife?”
During a segment on his eponymous Primetime show, Watters slated the former VP for setting up a blog and said that “Mamala” had been “caught” grocery shopping.
“Kamala says she wasn’t going to go quietly, but she’s been as quiet as a mime,” Watters said. “Mamala just launched a blog though, and we clicked on it and she wants our email address so she can ask us for money.”
He then segued into images of Harris and Emhoff grocery shopping at 99 Ranch Market Asian Grocery store in Westwood, California, as reported by the New York Post.
“And she needs it because grocery prices are ridiculous. She just found out about inflation,” he continued. “The New York Post caught her grocery shopping with Dougie Fresh.”
And then came the killer line, before Watters switched to bashing CNN. “What kind of husband goes grocery shopping with his wife?” he said, deadpan, contorting his face in faux shock.
Viewers later had their say during the show’s “Text Jesse” segment.
John, from Nutley, New Jersey, wrote in to say “smart men” grocery shop with their wives, calling it “price control.”
Watters was apparently impressed with the message, saying in response: “Touché.”
“What kind of man goes grocery shopping with his wife? A GOOD ONE,” a California viewer named Diane wrote.
“OK, now this is getting a little out of hand here,” Watters said. “You don’t need to go grocery shopping with your wife, you should be able to exert price control from afar.”
Meanwhile, right-wing commentator Eric Daugherty took to X to share his own witty take on grocerygate. “JUST IN: Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff seen grocery shopping together with plastic bags, violating left-wing environmental doctrine,” he wrote.
Harris and her husband hotfooted it back to the West Coast after President Donald Trump was sworn in at the start of the week.
