Is Travis Scott’s LA Mansion at Risk of Slipping Into a Huge Hillside Fissure?

All eyes are on Travis Scott’s $23.5 million Brentwood mansion now that a giant fissure has appeared in the hillside right next to the sprawling seven-bedroom, 11-bathroom home. After near record-breaking rainfall (quadrupling the average in February), the property beside the rapper’s dwelling cracked open this weekend, and seems to be splitting in half. Will the 16,700-square-foot mammoth of a house hold up?

Although the crack looks dangerous, local officials have not issued any evacuation instructions, and have declared the hillside safe…for now, at least. “We worked very closely with building and safety as well as public works, all of whom performed an assessment, as well as a geologist, to look at this hillside,” LAFD spokesperson Erik Scott told a local ABC news affiliate.

Scott, who reportedly paid cash for the three-tiered abode in 2020, got the house for a discount after the original $42 million price was twice slashed. Fashioned after the design of a “modern yacht” according to its original listing materials, the façade of the massive home comprises mostly soft, rounded walls filled in with giant panels of glass. A long, steep driveway ushers vehicles both up to a rooftop parking area with room for 12 cars, and down a slope to a 20-car garage directly under.

A floor-to-ceiling carved wood sculpture by Japanese carpenter Toshi Kawabata faces off with a 12-foot-high living wall in the the front entryway. The main level also features an open-floor great room that includes lounging and dining areas, a kitchen with black marble countertops, a wet bar, and a stone fireplace. Glass walls slide open to 10,000 square feet of backyard space, complete with a 75-foot-long infinity pool, a cabana, and outdoor kitchen. Primed for entertaining, the home’s lower level boasts a 15-seat theater, another wet bar, a gym, a sauna, a game room, and a temperature-controlled wine room with a 650-bottle capacity. Two junior suites are situated on the top floor, along with a primary suite featuring a balcony, two walk-in closets, and a spa-style bathroom with a soaking tub.

Just as the crack appeared, TMZ reported that Scott and his ex-girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, (with whom the rapper shares two children) have once again listed their jointly-owned Beverly Hills mansion—for a discounted $17.9 million this time around. The pair purchased the 9,680-square-foot-home in 2018 and have been trying to part ways with it since 2022.

With more rain expected in LA this week, authorities and residents will probably keep their eyes glued to the hill.
