Charlotte Hornets coach Steve Clifford is stepping down at the end of the season and working to finalize a front-office role with the team, league sources said.
Clifford reportedly told the coaching staff and players about his plan Wednesday morning.
This season, Charlotte is 18-57 and has been eliminated from playoff contention. Clifford is in his second stint with the Hornets after coaching them from 2013-2018 and returning last season.
ESPN was first to report news of Clifford’s plans.
This story will be updated.
