HHS Suspends EcoHealth Alliance Funding As Lab Leak Investigation Continues

Biden’s Department of Health and Hunan Services suspended the non-profit research group EcoHealth Alliance from receiving federal funds. EcoHeath Alliance, under the leadership of Dr. Peter Daszak, is at ground zero of the lab leak theory of the creation of COVID-19. The suspension is merely an interim step until formal disbarment procedures get underway. Disbarment would preclude EcoHealth Alliance from receiving government grants or contractors or working as a subcontractor on projects with government funding. In short, if HHS makes the disbarment stick, EcoHealth Alliance will be out of business. While many of Daszak’s employees may end up living in refrigerator cartons beneath an overpass, Daszak will undoubtedly find a soft landing.

EcoHealth Alliance was deceptive and, in that quaint phrase, parsimonious with the truth in its dealings with its grantor agency, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). However, how much former NIAID Director Anthony Fauci knew is debatable. I entered into a research agreement with the Wuhan Institute of Virology, a research center with strong ties (I’m being kind) to the Chinese military, to engage in research forbidden under US law.

Fauci Lied: Funding to EcoHealth Alliance Was Always For Gain-Of-Function

Because of the nature of EcoHealth Alliance’s research, its partnership with what can only be described as Chinese biological warfare organizations, and the locus of COVID-19 in Wuhan, the possibility of a laboratory leak using a virus engineered using EcoHealth Alliance federal research dollars became perhaps the dominant theory on the origin of COVID-19.

It’s too early to count Daszak and EcoHealth out. Daszak has friends in very high places in the infectious disease research world, and there is no doubt they will go to bat for him.

In April 2020, under orders from the Trump administration, the National Institutes of Health terminated a grant to EcoHealth amid President Donald J. Trump’s feud with China over the origin of the coronavirus. Three years later, an internal federal watchdog agency determined that the N.I.H. had failed to give a proper cause for ending the grant, which supplied an average of roughly $625,000 per year. The N.I.H. restarted a pared-back version of the award.

When the president orders a contract terminated, and the agency screws up the process, that is not an accident; that is an intentional act.

(In a prior life, I was on a conference call with Fauci the day after Trump pulled the plug on EcoHealth Alliance’s gain-of-function research, and he was not a happy man.)

EcoHealth Alliance’s funding history after COVID-19 shows just how strong its patrons are.

In the words of the Winston Churchill, “Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end.But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.” We’ll know it’s the end when they bring in the dumpsters to clear EcoHealth Alliance’s furniture from its office space, and we see Daszak and Fauci in orange jumpsuits.
