PORTLAND — Former University of Kansas and NBA lottery pick Ben McLemore was arraigned Wednesday in a Portland area court on four sex charges, including first-degree rape and first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, both A-level felonies that carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, according to Clackamas County (Ore.) Circuit Court documents. There is a $500,000 bail on the first-degree rape charge.

McLemore was also charged with two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, both C-level felonies that carry maximum penalties of five years in prison. McLemore was arrested on Wednesday by Multnomah County police and was arraigned at 2 p.m. in Clackamas County Circuit Court. Details of the case are unknown because the indictment has been sealed. He is due to appear back in Clackamas County Circuit Court on July 1 at 10 a.m.

McLemore, 31, last played in the NBA in 2022, when he averaged 10.2 points for the Portland Trail Blazers in 64 games.

A 6-foot-3 guard known for his shooting touch, McLemore was the seventh overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings. He played four seasons in Sacramento before stints with Memphis, Houston, the Lakers and Portland. His best season was in 2014, his second in the NBA, when he started all 82 games for the Kings and averaged 12.1 points. After the NBA, he signed a one-year deal with AEK Athens in the Greek League, but he left after playing in only seven games.
