Well, it certainly took them long enough. As we reported earlier, Columbia University issued a 2 p.m. Monday deadline for students to abandon the anti-Israel encampment that has overtaken the campus or they’d face consequences. However, 2 p.m. came and went, nothing happened, and the NYPD was not sent in to clear out the place as some expected even though the defiant mob did not move.

But later Monday, the feckless administration actually started meting out punishment and began suspending the students who refused to leave.

The institution plans to bar them from campus as well as residential buildings if they do not exit the encampment, which has over 100 tents and student protesters. Suspended seniors will not be eligible to graduate.

“We have begun suspending students as part of this next phase of our efforts to ensure safety on our campus,” Columbia spokesperson Ben Chang told reporters during a Monday evening news briefing.

A Columbia spokesperson did not have exact numbers for students suspended.

Will wonders never cease. They finally took action after the campus became a festering camp of hate where Jewish students feared for their safety for almost two weeks now.

The suspensions come on the last day of classes—although I doubt anyone was going anyway—and two weeks before graduation. Suspended students will not be able to participate. Poor darlings.

The protesters claim, like their counterparts throwing tantrums on campuses across the country, that they want their school to divest from Israel as the Jewish state conducts its war against Hamas terrorists. However, they’ve been shouting hateful slogans, calling for an intifada, and committing violent acts, so these certainly aren’t “peaceful protests.” Nowhere in their endless chants is a recognition of the 1,200 victims of the horrific Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attack against Israel.

Two thoughts come to mind as I read about the suspensions: 1) How mad at my child would I be if I’d poured all that money into tuition only to see them ineligible to graduate because they engaged in hateful demonstrations in support of savage terrorists? Not sure I’d ever be able to forgive them for that one. 2) That’s great, Columbia. Nice that you’re actually doing something. But why suspensions—is there something wrong with expulsions? These young adults not only engaged in vile behavior but they defied your direct order to disperse. Teach them about the real world: you don’t always get second chances, especially when you act in this manner.

They should be tossed out and denied an opportunity to return or graduate. Life can be tough, pumpkin.
