Ashley Young insists he wants to stay at Everton after being offered a new contract by the club and added he would “love to play as long as possible.”
The Athletic reported earlier this month that 38-year-old Young has been offered a new one-year contract extension by Everton, as has club captain Seamus Coleman.
Former England international Young joined Everton as a free agent last summer after his contract expired at Aston Villa, and he scored once in 34 appearances for Sean Dyche’s side across the campaign.
The versatile Young — who spent eight-and-a-half seasons at Manchester United earlier in his career — has insisted he wishes to continue at Goodison Park.
“I’ve spoken to the manager and we had a quick conversation about staying for another season,” Young told Talksport. “It’s just now down to sorting out the final details to sort out for the next season.”

Young added he wanted to stay at Everton, and said: “I’d love to play as long as possible, whether that’s going to be a one-year deal or two-year deal.”
Andre Gomes and Andy Lonergan will leave Goodison Park upon the expiration of their contracts in June, with loan players Arnaut Danjuma and Jack Harrison to return to parent clubs Villarreal and Leeds United respectively at the end of the campaign.

Everton squad audit: Where do they need to strengthen – and who could leave?
Everton will continue dialogue with Leeds over Harrison’s future once the Championship club’s play-off campaign has been completed.
Dele Alli’s future will be decided after he completes an intensive rehabilitation programme from a long-term groin injury, which he is undergoing away from Merseyside. The midfielder’s Everton contract expires in June.
