CALGARY — Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin scored his 20th and 21st goals of the season on Monday night against the Calgary Flames. Ovechkin has reached the 20-goal plateau in 19 consecutive seasons, joining Gordie Howe and Brendan Shanahan as the only others to have accomplished the feat.

Ron Francis, Dave Andreychuk and Jaromir Jagr have scored 20 goals in at least 19 seasons but did not record them in consecutive years.
Ovechkin now has 843 career goals, putting him 51 goals from tying Wayne Gretzky’s record for goals at 894. The Russian forward scored both of his goals in the second period Monday, beating Flames goaltender Dustin Wolf. Both of Ovechkin’s goals were power-play goals.
Wolf is also the 174th goaltender that Ovechkin has scored on throughout his career. Only Jagr and Patrick Marleau have scored on more goaltenders in NHL history. Wolf is also the 94th different goalie that Ovechkin has had multi-goal games against. It’s the most of any player in league history, with Gretzky trailing him with 89 goalies.
