A house shaped like the jaws of a shark has been making a splash with the locals in Brisbane.

According to realestate.com.au, the home is owned by local developer, Max Panettiere and has been named ‘Gill House’ thanks to its unique shark jaws look.

The new, four-storey house in Norman Park is made from concrete and frameless glass and features a pool, pool deck and barbecue terrace facing the river, a downstairs bunker with an adjoining bathroom, a top-floor master suite with a lavish walkthrough dressing room and a marble-clad ensuite with a circular bath and matching skylight.

There’s also a jetty and pontoon, and there’s even a giant painting of Mr Panettiere gracing the wall in the main living area.

The property was named ‘Gill House’ because it has gill-like panels on the side of the home that appear to replicate those of a shark, with the glass facade facing the river similar to the mouth or jaws.

The house almost wasn’t built, with the Brisbane City Council initially rejected the plans, believing they were likely to cause “extreme conflict” with neighbours.

Mr Panetierre subsequently filed an appeal in the Planning and Environment Court.

The shark house was opened to plenty of fanfare from locals, with an official housewarming event that included a red carpet, which was attended by 300 guests including real estate agents, models, developers, restaurateurs, and entrepreneurs.
