Cook County (IL) Judge Tracie Porter has ordered former President Donald Trump’s name be removed from the state’s March 19 primary. She has stayed the order until Friday, March 1, in anticipation of a predicted appeal.

Porter’s judgment comes after the Illinois State Board of Elections ruled on January 30 that it lacked authority to determine whether it had authority to remove Trump from the ballot based on the argument that Trump’s actions on January 6, 2021, constituted a disqualifying violation of the 14th Amendment.

Porter stated that her decision would be rendered moot should the United States Supreme Court ruling on Trump’s removal from the Colorado primary ballot determine said removal was “inconsistent” with her own.

Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung has stated that the ruling will be swiftly appealed.

“Today, an activist Democrat judge in Illinois summarily overruled the state’s board of elections and contradicted earlier decisions from dozens of other state and federal jurisdictions. This is an unconstitutional ruling that we will quickly appeal. In the meantime, President Trump remains on the Illinois ballot, is dominating the polls, and will Make America Great Again!”

Given the Supreme Court’s clear disdain of the Colorado effort toward removing Trump from that state’s ballot, and by Judge Porter’s own actions and words in regard to her ruling, it is clear the ruling is little more than fan fodder and blue meat throwing with zero chance of success.
