The offseason is in full swing for the St. Louis Blues after Tuesday’s announcement that Drew Bannister has been named the 27th head coach in franchise history.

Coaches and players have dispersed, including some heading off to the IIHF World Championship, held from May 10. to 26 in Prague and Ostrava, Czechia.

Those suiting up for Team Canada are Colton Parayko, Jordan Binnington and Joel Hofer, which means the Blues’ goalie tandem will make up two-thirds of the netminders on the Canadian roster.

“It says that our goaltending is in a good spot,” Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said. “It bodes well, having guys play internationally and thought of by their countries as players they’re proud to represent them.”

In addition, Blues assistant coach Steve Ott will be on Canada’s coaching staff. He recently finished his seventh season in St. Louis and is expected back on the bench in 2024-25.

“He’s going to work with quality coaches,” Armstrong said. “He’s going to get a chance to hear about different systems, hear about the relationship that different coaches have with players, and how they go about it. I think he has the qualities to be a good NHL head coach, and any time you can have different experiences help you grow, it’s important.”

Meanwhile, the Blues’ Kevin Hayes and Matthew Kessel will represent Team USA at the World Championships.

So with summer on the horizon, it’s time to follow up on The Athletic’s midseason Blues fan survey with an offseason edition.

These 15 questions will help us get a better feel for what you’re thinking about everything from the full-time hiring of Drew Bannister as head coach to the confidence level in Armstrong.
