Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen says that head coach Thomas Tuchel will remain in his position next week, despite mounting pressure on the German boss.
Bayern’s 3-2 loss in the Bundesliga on Sunday was their third loss in a row across all competitions, having also been defeated by Lazio in the Champions League and Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen.
The result leaves Bayern eight points off current league leaders Bayer Leverkusen, who beat Tuchel’s side 3-0 on February 10.
Dreesen said: “I feel rubbish. I don’t believe in big statements about the coach. This issue isn’t on our mind at the moment.
Pressed on whether Tuchel would remain in charge next week, he added: “Of course.”
Bayern took the lead with a goal from Jamal Musiala, but the match was interrupted twice due to fan protests.
Bochum managed to score twice in the first half, with Takuma Asano and Keven Schlotterbeck finding the net.
Kevin Stoger extended the lead to 3-1 with a penalty after Dayot Upamecano was sent off. Despite Harry Kane’s 25th league goal of the season, it wasn’t enough to take anything from the game.
Tuchel added to DAZN: “I don’t think today’s defeat was fair, I think a lot went against us today.
“I think we had an expected goals (xG) value of 3.4 and we had four, five, six top chances.
“We completely dominated the game and actually went behind out of nowhere. We never stopped putting in the effort until the end and then played with a man down for a long time. A lot went against us today. I feel today’s defeat is different to the last two.”
Bayern, aiming for their 12th consecutive league title, currently sit in second place with 50 points. Bochum, meanwhile, climbed to 11th position with the victory.
