The Sydney residence once belonging to the esteemed comedian, actor, writer, and satirist Barry Humphries is now on the market.

The three-bedroom apartment, located in the renowned Quay West block, was acquired by Humphries in 2004 for $2.5 million from Paul Ramsay, the founder of Ramsay Health Care, who has since passed away.

According to realestate.com.au, the apartment, situated on the 30th floor, spans 167sq m and offers stunning northerly views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, features that undoubtedly appealed to the legendary entertainer.

Known for referring to it as his “flat”, Humphries’ Sydney home is being sold through Francis Fusco of Ray White Residential, with an asking price of about $6 million for the upcoming auction on March 21.

It is believed that Humphries, famed for his creation of the iconic character Dame Edna Everage, had previously engaged directly with Ramsay to secure the property in 2004, moving up from another apartment in the same building.

The earlier apartment, which he sold for $1.67 million in 2007 through Fusco, was located several floors lower and boasted a south-westerly view.

Humphries had initially purchased it for $1.015 million in November 2001, shortly after selling his Rose Bay waterfront property, Villa Florida, for $2.52 million, a significant increase from its purchase price of $1.75 million five years earlier.

The level 30 apartment is flooded with natural light from the north and each of its double bedrooms has magnificent views.

It includes a granite kitchen with high-quality fixtures, two bathrooms (one featuring a luxurious spa), and comes with two car parking spaces.

Residents also benefit from access to a pool, sauna, spa, and 24-hour concierge service..
