Tonight is the annual Met Gala, where the most artisan bakery of the upper crust goes to show off that they have money, access, and odd ideas about fashion. It is, quite simply, a gathering of the privileged. Most folks might not even be aware of the gala’s purpose (to raise money for the Met’s Costume Institute, which is the only department at the museum required to pay for itself), but it is a thing we must see covered by news media and plastered all over social media.

Well, the privileged folks who are in attendance, almost all of whom are of the left, are actually being protested by, well, privileged folks who are not in attendance but are also seeking coverage by the news media and want to be plastered all over social media.

That would be the pro-Hamas crowd in New York.

Those words surely mean something to the other arts majors out there protesting who aren’t at the Met. You’ll note that it rarely seems like the STEM fields are represented in these protests.

Anyway, the protestors have been clashing with police, breaking through barricades, and making general nuisances of themselves. Some are even getting arrested.

More on the protests and arrests from Axios:

The big picture: Pro-Palestinian activist group Within Our Lifetime had called for a Day of Rage” demonstration against the Israel-Hamas war, starting from Hunter College.

State of play: Student activists against the Israel-Hamas war were captured on video trying to pushing through New York Police Department barricades.

A bunch of privileged kids are out there, marching on (or, at least, around) the Met Gala in a “Day of Rage” after Israel decided to invade Rafah – which Israel would not have done if Hamas had not launched a terror attack, taken dozens of hostages, and generally continuing to call for the destruction of Israel and death to all the Jews.

The latter two also being what these privileged kids protesting privileged adults are also doing. And typically what the privileged adults at the Gala largely also seem to think about the situation, as well.
