We saw Democrats flipping out again when President Donald Trump dismissed General C.Q. Brown as the Joint Chiefs head, and made his replacement General Dan Caine.
Now, that’s completely normal. You normally want to pick the person you feel will fit you best as an advisor. There was nothing improper about what Pres. Trump did.
Yet, we saw all kinds of craziness from Democrats and the media in response, claiming this is unprecedented or political. They seem to have forgotten about the many generals fired by presidents over the years. Where were they when Barack Obama was firing a lot of generals and other military leaders? It’s apparently only “unprecedented” when it’s from Trump, even if it’s decidedly not unprecedented and a completely normal action of the president.

This response might win the prize for most ridiculous, posted by the New Yorker’s Susan Glasser, without any apparent pushback repeating what a cowardly “senior defense official”–who wouldn’t go on record– claimed: that Brown was fired “just because he was Black.”

Really? Then someone is going to have to explain why Trump elevated Brown as the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force to begin with, making him the first African American to lead a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Right, okay, anyway, here’s Donald Trump after nominating the same man as Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force in 2020. https://t.co/FOECo9kDit pic.twitter.com/j9qxXjBOpn

It seems like the unelected bureaucracy will say anything at this point. This senior defense official also has to know this replacement is completely normal, and that he/she is supposed to be there to advance the political and military goals as set by the president. If anything, it’s the reaction back that’s abnormal and political. Frankly, it makes it clear that it probably is a good move.
CNN aired a panel discussion, where you had Van Jones complaining about Trump “running over norms.” But fellow panelist Scott Jennings just laughed at the irony and audacity of such a statement.
🚨 OMG. Van Jones just made such a ridiculous statement about “norms” on CNN and Scott Jennings showed no mercy.
JONES: If we had a Democratic president who ran over these norms – you’d be upset.
JENNINGS: You keep saying that… brother, last year, Joe Biden was asleep, and… pic.twitter.com/XOHYxPUdVg

You keep saying that we’d be upset if a Democratic president violated norms. Brother, last year, Joe Biden was asleep, and Kamala Harris was at a dance party with Beyonce all year. You violated norms for the entire year, and it’s one of the reasons that Donald Trump won the election. Norms were violated for four straight years. And yes, I didn’t like it. But Donald Trump, in my opinion, is not exceeding his authority under the Constitution.”
Then some wag added a “dance party” reaction to Beyonce at the end of the clip, including President Donald Trump and others. You can see Frank Luntz just laughing, when Jennings is serving it up to Jones.
Jennings left Jones stammering and trying to respond. But Jennings is right that the norms were completely blown up under Biden. The Democrats and media didn’t care about Biden’s incoherence or things being run by the “unelected bureaucracy” — until it might endanger his reelection prospects and Democratic control.
Then they swapped him out for Kamala Harris in another norm-breaking moment, but that didn’t work out well when she lost badly in the election. Jennings’ talking about Kamala Harris at a “dance party” was a reference to Harris having Beyonce appear at a Houston campaign rally. People came expecting Beyonce to sing and then she didn’t even do that, so it did not go over well.
Heck, Biden even invented a constitutional amendment that didn’t exist.

It takes some nerve now, after all that, to attack Trump over norms.
Trump is cleaning up the mess that Biden left. But more than that, he’s cleaning up mess that has been there for a long time in the unelected bureaucracy. That’s why they’re so mad at him, because he’s shaking their power.
