As RedState previously reported, a handful of media outlets including PBS and CNN absolutely beclowned themselves Monday in falsely reporting that Twitter/X owner Elon Musk had used a “fascist salute” while addressing a pro-Trump crowd during an Inauguration Day rally.

“Billionaire Elon Musk gave what appeared to be a fascist salute Monday while making a speech at the post-inauguration celebration for President Donald Trump at the Capital One Arena,” the PBS tweet alleged.

In reality, as documented by my colleague Nick Arama, Musk “was so enthusiastic he pounded his chest over his heart and then shot his hand out as to throw his heart to the audience.”

With his hand placed on his heart, he stated, “My heart goes out to you. It is thanks to you that the future of civilization is assured.”

Though even the ADL of all places has pushed back on the predictable media-driven hoax, opportunistic Democrat politicians are taking the ball and running with it, using the DOGE leader’s innocent gesture to denote something sinister.

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), who is Jewish, is among the ones engaging in the smear campaign, tweeting the following statement in response to the PBS story:

I never imagined we would see the day when what appears to be a Heil Hitler salute would be made behind the Presidential seal. This abhorrent gesture has no place in our society and belongs in the darkest chapters of human history. I urge all of my colleagues to unite in condemning this hateful gesture for what it is: antisemitism.

The only thing Nadler’s remarks succeeded in doing was uniting many Jewish people (and their supporters) on the social media platform against his shameless gaslighting.

“You literally fell asleep when I testified before the House Judiciary Committee, describing how my classmates were chanting in support of Hamas and for the death of Jews,” political commentator Eyal Yakoby wrote. “Spare us with your fake condemnation.”

Ex-IDF soldier Raylan Givens told Nadler that “You are a disgrace; you voted against the antisemitism bill and let the Jew haters in your party go wild. We don’t buy your BS anymore.”

Cornell Law School professor William Jacobson was similarly unforgiving:

As is the case with any false allegation, these things have a tendency to hurt true victims of antisemitism by watering the definition of it down to mean “someone I don’t like said or did something that offended me,” which is not the way it’s supposed to work.

And that goes double for areas with large Jewish populations like New York City, which has seen an explosion in antisemitic crime over the last few years.

But as per the norm with Democrat politicos, political expediency and demagoguery take precedence over saying and doing the right thing, because it’s more important to smear their opponents if it helps with their agenda.

That Nadler is engaging in this is, of course, not a surprise, but it’s disappointing nevertheless.
