In yet another “Flying Pigs” example, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly defended his new-found support for President Donald Trump in a Q&A with Meta employees, including those who work on social media platforms Facebook and Instagram.
The session came on the heels of Zuck’s previous announcements about Facebook’s notorious “fact-checkers” being kicked to the curb, changes to online speech policies, and DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) policies ended.
Zuckerberg laid out his argument in the Q&A session, according to The New York Times, which obtained a recording of the session from an anonymous source.
The Times reported that Zuckerberg’s comments reflected his sudden support for Trump.
Zuck reportedly told employees:
I want to be clear, after the last several years, we now have an opportunity to have a productive partnership with the United States government. We’re going to take that.
The government can sort of be actively opposing you, trying to get in the way and add a lot of friction, or can be actively trying to help you break down barriers to help you. It’s the right thing to do.
Let’s analyze the above before we continue.
Zuckerberg demonstrated in spades his “productive partnership” with the Biden-Harris administration, which he since claimed during an interview with podcaster Joe Rogan “screamed and cursed” at him to take down COVID/vaccine content and to censor unfavorable memes. Zuck told Rogan that when he (allegedly) pushed back, “it was brutal.”

Zuckerberg: Biden Admin Screamed, Cursed, and Acted Threateningly When Meta Refused Censorship Demands
This raises an interesting question — and its answer.
Should the powerful head of the world’s largest social media platform, which loyal users had assumed for years was a champion of free speech, bow to the pressures of any government entity and do that entity’s bidding? Absolutely not. Yet Zuckerberg now virtually admits — or at least claims — that that’s exactly what Meta did; it folded up like a cheap suit to the Biden White House’s demands.
So now that Trump and down-ballot Republican candidates have swept the Democrats out of the White House and the majority in both chambers of Congress, we’re supposed to believe that Zuck & Co. have had a miraculous metamorphosis and now support Donald Trump, of all people, and his policies.
Sorry Zuck, I don’t buy it for a minute.
This is not to say I don’t think Zuckerberg will carry through with what would’ve seemed just months ago to be beyond comprehension, but what I am saying is Zuck, like several other big tech titans, is doing so out of necessity rather than desire. And that necessity is Meta’s bottom line.
Here’s more, via The Times:
In the hourlong meeting with Meta’s more than 70,000 employees, Mr. Zuckerberg also said that 2025 would be a significant year for potentially transformative initiatives of Meta’s business, including focusing on artificial intelligence, data centers and the immersive world of the metaverse.

Some employees have pushed back on the changes, such as the removal of tampons from the men’s bathrooms at the company, which were provided for transgender and nonbinary employees.
As recently as Thursday, some employees were circulating a sign-up form for workers to purchase sanitary products and bring them to Meta’s offices in an act of protest, said two people who have seen the form.
A spokesman for Meta declined to comment. Of course, he or she (or whatever “gender”) did.
