Staff members at Yosemite National Park hung an upside-down US flag on the side of the El Capitan summit on Saturday, February 22, to protest the firing of staff numbers at the park by the Trump administration.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that the upside-down US flag, traditionally seen as a symbol of distress, was hung to protest multiple full-time staff members having received termination emails on February 14.

This footage was captured by Anand K Sankaran, who said that the flag was hung just before firefall, a phenomenon where sunlight shines on a sliver of water, making it appear molten orange. Credit: Anand K Sankaran via Storyful
