Worries about deficit spending after election bog down U.S. government debt

With about two weeks left before the Nov. 5 election, Treasury yields were extending a climb from September’s lows on Monday — spurred in part by growing concern about the path of the U.S. deficit regardless of which candidate wins the race for the White House.
