In this episode of “The Most Trusted Name in News™”…

Every once in a while, I watch a short segment on CNN — the operative word being “short” — strictly for entertainment purposes. This was one of those segments. Let’s just say I laughed out loud.

Our tale begins with Washington, D.C., lobbyist and former aide to Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) and former Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), Jonathan Kott, who — just two months before the 2024 presidential election — predicted this about Vice President and Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris (emphasis, gleefully mine):

I think voters are still getting to know Kamala Harris. And she’s introducing herself. And the more she does, the more they like her, and the more her poll numbers come up. I’d be worried if I was Donald Trump.

Au contraire, Mr. Kott. Bigly.

The more voters got to know Kamala Harris, the less they liked her, and the more they realized what a hollow fraud she was (and remains) who had zero business running for president of the United States, much less being elected.

And as for Donald Trump being “worried,” how’d that all work out?

Here’s Where It Got REALLY Hilarious

In what appeared to be a misguided effort to comfort CNN’s TDS-riddled base — the size of which continues to free-fall as CNN’s ratings continue to swirl down the failing left-wing media toilet — the ever-incisive Mr. Kott made a laugh-out-loud prediction.

Host Kasie Hunt kicked off the segment with a blatantly biased set-up question.

Jonathan Kott, you worked for Joe Manchin for many years, right? Interesting, you know, cuts his own figure, but also represented a state that really exemplifies the way our politics has changed, right, in the last 30 years, where it went from voting consistently for Democrats for years and years, and then ultimately became essentially the Trumpiest state in the union.

What of what Donald Trump has been doing here is kind of resonating, not with MAGA and the far right of the party that’s very online and very politically engaged, but with regular people who are unhappy with their economic prospects and their lives.

I mean, what’s he doing that’s good, and what is he doing that is politically risky for him?

“Trumpiest.” How cute, Ms. Hunt.

Anyway, Kott — not exactly Nostradamus — hilariously responded:

All of it right now is good because they love action. And Donald Trump is very good at making voters and people believe he’s doing something

The executive orders he’s signing, 90 percent of them mean absolutely nothing. They don’t do anything. But he’s showing them that he’s doing something. And that’s where Democrats faulted in the last four years. So people in West Virginia see the action, and they love it.

Hold the bus.

Trump is making people believe he’s doing something? Should we run through the remarkable list of this president’s demonstrable accomplishments in just the first two weeks of his presidency? Perhaps just a few highlights:

  • Took action to reduce the size and increase the effectiveness of the federal government
  • Took action to shut down the flow of illegal aliens into America
  • Began ICE deportation raids to rid the country of illegal alien criminals
  • “Convinced” Canada and Mexico to take demonstrable actions to stop the flow of illegals and deadly fentanyl into our country
  • Called for and began to implement the elimination of DEI initiatives from federal government agencies and the US military
  • Expanded oil and gas drilling

I could continue but I think I’ve more than made the point that Kott’s claim about Trump “making people believe that he’s doing something” was without merit — ridiculously so.

The Democrat lobbyist continued:

I think what’s gonna happen is, when they start realizing their prices aren’t going down, the government programs that a state like West Virginia relies on desperately are going away, you’re gonna see a turn from him.

And they’re gonna say, wait, you promised us all of these things, and now we’re just getting this. And I would point out, not only tariffs were promised as a threat. Donald Trump told us they would lead us to this new gilded age of an economic boom

If they’re so good, why aren’t we implementing them? Why are we accepting that these sort of concessions that mean nothing and were already happening are good for the American economy? We were told throughout, tariff was the best word in the English language. Which is what he told his voters. And a lot of them believed if Donald Trump got in there, he was going to impose tariffs.

And there was going to be all this money flowing into our bank accounts. They’re going to wait for that to happen. They’ll give him six, eight months. But they’ll turn quickly.

I wonder if Kott is willing to place a hefty wager on that last line.

So what’s this guy’s trick — er — schtick? Clairvoyance? An Ouija board? Wishful thinking?

And what will Kott say when this prediction fails as spectacularly as did his prediction about Harris, two months before the election?

Dunno — but I bet it’ll have something to do with the “ignorance” of Trump supporters.
