As RedState has been reporting all day, October 7 marks the one-year anniversary since Hamas terrorists stormed into Israel, raping and massacring thousands of Israelis and kidnapping hundreds more. Many of the kidnapped remain in captivity, likely in underground tunnels beneath Gaza.

Kamala Harris, sitting vice president of the administration under whom the massacre took place, marked the anniversary by planting a tree at the Vice President’s Residence at the Naval Observatory in DC. She also made remarks that described the brutality of Hamas terrorists that day as “an act of pure evil” while also lamenting the need to “relieve the immense suffering of innocent Palestinians in Gaza who have experienced so much pain and loss over the year.”

Meanwhile, Donald Trump headed to New York City to remember the day with the Jewish community in Queens. In announcing his visit, Trump Campaign National Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt noted that the atrocity would not have happened under the Trump administration:

“Today, President Trump will commemorate the one-year anniversary of October 7th with a visit to Ohel Chabad Lubavitch, the final resting place of Rabbi Schneerson in New York, and he will give remarks at an October 7th Remembrance Event in Florida. The atrocities, including the slaughtering and capturing of innocent Israelis and Americans, that took place on October 7th would have never happened if President Trump were still in the White House. For Americans and Israelis alike, it’s imperative that President Trump is re-elected so he can end the bloodshed caused by an emboldened Iranian terrorist regime, which is stronger and richer today from the Harris-Biden Administration’s incompetence and weak policies.”

Images and video emerging from Trump’s visit show him praying for peace and leaving a note of hope that the remaining hostages will soon return home.

The visit took place at Ohel Chabad Lubavitch, the final resting place of Rabbi Schneerson. Schneerson, also referred to  as “the Rebbe,” was an influential figure in the 20th century known for “stirring the conscience and spiritual awakening of world Jewry.”

The Rebbe was perhaps best known for establishing emissaries, or shluchim, who aimed to bring Judaism and observance of the commandments to places in which both were lacking. Countless Jews have found their way back to their roots through the work of Chabad, and almost every Jew can tell a story of being an obscure corner of the world where they didn’t expect to find any Jews and then discovering that there was a Chabad shliach in the vicinity.

As the one-year anniversary of the massacre in Israel comes to an end, two things are clear. First, Donald Trump is an unabashed ally of Israel and the Jewish people. Secondly, Kamala is the queen of “both-sidesing” issues and demonstrated that by somehow being on the side of the victim nation and its terrorist attackers. Which begs the question: If you stand for everything, do you actually stand for anything?
