Fox debuted a new score bug for Super Bowl LIX that can be described by one word: Boxy.
The score bug — also known as the on-screen graphic that displays the score, time and relevant statistics — is centered at the bottom of the television screen. Each team’s abbreviated name appears in a bold, serif typeface, in a box of that team’s color. The score and time is set to the inside of the team name.
Networks often debut a new score bug during a big game. CBS used last year’s Super Bowl to try a new version of its score bug. Fox did the same two years ago.
