One of the things that makes Vice President JD Vance so interesting is that he hasn’t been a career politician, coming up from a tough situation to achieve so much by his own perseverance.

He showed that newness — and wonder — as he was introduced to the Oval Office for the first time.

Only in America can a hardworking young man from Appalachia rise from his humble circumstances to enter the Oval for first time as VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. What a country!

The family also had a great time at the inauguration, with his wife Usha looking at JD like every spouse would hope to be looked at and their kids behaving like typical kids.

This was what the left tried to paint as “weird” (as opposed to Tim Walz and his wife) when this is the normal that we’ve so desperately needed and also a huge upgrade of the prior occupants of the Naval Observatory. So nice to have someone who isn’t going to speak in word salads and actually bakes biscuits with her kids. Kamala Harris couldn’t even be bothered to invite the Vances to the Naval Observatory to help get a sense of the home to be able to childproof it, although there was later communication with Navy aides and the Vance team to give some idea of the layout.

Now, JD Vance has issued a “thank you” to us and said he would take care of the house which they have been entrusted for the next four years.

My kids are settling in to the Vice President’s official residence, and I just want to say: thank you to the American people. While we don’t own this property, it is a beautiful home for our three little kids. We are grateful, and will take good care of it.

What a class act. This is simple, humble, spontaneous gratitude and how a public servant should behave, but we so rarely see anyone acting like this now. Isn’t it nice to have someone who actually says “thank you” and who realizes he has an obligation to us, as opposed to acting entitled and like he’s ruling over us?

It’s going to be a challenge with three active young kids and they may get some Crayon on the walls, if these kids are like most kids. But the parents have the right attitude. It’s nice to have a young family with children there.
