As we reported, a horrific shooting took place during the victory parade of the Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs Wednesday, and at least one person is dead with 15 others reported injured. (Reports vary as new information is constantly coming in.)
Now video has emerged showing heroic KC fans tackling the alleged shooter, struggling with him, and holding him until cops come to cuff him up.
Wild footage shows the suspect springing behind jersey barriers and across the grass toward a sea of confused and terrified celebrants shortly after shots rang out at the end of the victory parade west of Union Station.
Rather than running away with the rest of the crowd, one brave fan braced himself and leaped on the alleged criminal, dragging him to the ground.
The suspected gunman quickly wriggled free but was immediately tackled again by a second Chiefs fan, who somersaulted in the dirt with the man in a desperate attempt to keep him shackled.
That’s when the first fan jumped back into the fight, followed by at least two other bystanders who all worked together to hold the suspect down until police arrived just seconds later.
The camera panned to another suspect being cuffed several yards away.

Police have confirmed that at least two armed suspects have been taken into custody. They were also attempting to reunite those who got separated during the chaos.

The shooting happened around 2 p.m. near the Union Station parking garage. The situation was awful:
“The celebration was marred by a shooting. This is absolutely a tragedy,” Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas said.
A witness, Kade Collins, who was there with his dad, described the ordeal to a local news channel:
“We heard 10-12 gunshots, but we thought they were fireworks, so we didn’t really panic at first or get too worked up. But then everyone started screaming and took off running,” Collins said. “Once the crowd moved out of the way, I could see three people with gunshot wounds on the ground. I saw one girl with a gunshot wound to her leg. A second woman was also shot and had something tied around her leg to make a tourniquet and her leg was covered in blood.”
Collins saw Good Samaritans helping others:
“There was a guy right by her, and he was in a lot worse shape – he was lying flat on his back. There were multiple people around him helping him. All three of these people seemed pretty young. In their 20s to 30s. We were trying to get out of there as fast as we could,” Collins said. “My dad saw the police tackle a suspect. When we were walking out, there was someone pointing and saying ‘he’s right there, he’s right there.’ and police ran to the guy the crowd was pointing at and tackled him and put him in handcuffs. Everyone took off running and screaming.”
Truly a nightmarish outburst of violence during what was supposed to be a moment of celebration for the Chiefs, their fans, and Kansas City. Hats off to the brave fans who risked their own safety to bring at least one of these thugs to the ground.
Let’s hope whoever the shooters were that they spend the rest of their days staring at cinderblock walls.
