A missing dog owes its survival to a drone after getting lost in the snow.

Aurora escaped past an electric perimeter fence at her home in upstate New York. After 24 hours with no sign of the dog, her panicked owner called the North Country Drone Search & Recovery.

Chad D. Tavernia, who specializes in finding lost pets with his thermal drone, answered the call. After more than 90 minutes of scanning the area in frigid conditions, the search was expanded to a snow-covered field across a frozen river. There, the helpless pup was spotted by the heat-seeking imaging camera.

Tavernia marked her location and alerted her owner, who was eventually able to coax the lucky pet to safety.
