The USMNT has dropped five places to 16th in the FIFA world rankings following its Copa America group-stage exit.
The U.S. had headed into the Copa America as the world’s 11th-ranked side and the third-highest-ranked side at the tournament. However, Gregg Berhalter’s side collected just three points from three matches to finish third in Group C after a victory over Bolivia was followed by defeats to Panama and Uruguay.
The USMNT’s performance at Copa America cost Berhalter his job, with the team now searching for a new head coach ahead of the World Cup in 2026.

The top two in the FIFA rankings remain unchanged, with Argentina still ranked No 1 after winning Copa America and France second despite a semi-final exit at the hands of Spain at the 2024 European Championship.
European champions Spain have climbed five places to third after a 2-1 victory over England in Sunday’s final secured a first major trophy in 10 years. Euro 2024 runners-up England have moved up from fifth to fourth after reaching a second successive Euros final. England have swapped places with Brazil, who drop a place to fifth following a disappointing quarterfinal exit at the hands of Uruguay in Copa America.

Venezuela is the biggest climber after moving up 17 places to 37th following a quarterfinal exit at Copa America.
Canada is also among the biggest climbers, rising eight places to 40th following its historic run to the Copa semifinals.
Czech Republic has dropped the most places, falling 13 spots to 47th after taking just one point from three group-stage matches at Euro 2024.
Scotland has fallen nine places to 48th after also suffering a group stage exit at Euro 2024, while Turkey has climbed 16 places to 26th after its run to the quarterfinals.
