Through two games at the World Juniors, Canadian goaltender Carter George remains perfect. He didn’t allow a goal against the Finns in his first tournament appearance and he made 25 saves in a 3-0 victory over Germany on Sunday night. He is the first goalie to record shutouts in his first two World Juniors starts since Jake Allen, according to Sportsnet Stats.

“I just want to go out there and do my part to get this team a win,” George said. “We all pitch into the system and our D corps has been unbelievable in this tournament.”

“It’s the best feeling in the world knowing that you’ve got probably the best goalie in this tournament, hands down. So yeah, it’s a really good feeling knowing when you do mess up, he’s got your back,” defenseman Oliver Bonk said.

George even tried his hand at getting a goalie goal but missed the net by a few feet.

“I’m not sure if it was a placement or if I just fanned on it,” George said.

“I had to apologize to (Bradly Nadeau) for making him skate all the way down there for that icing,”

“It’s sick,” Bonk said. “It takes some guts and he’s got the skill to do it. So it’s sick to see.”

With two shutouts under his belt, George should be the leading candidate for Canada to start in goal against the United States on Tuesday.

“It’s a good rivalry,” George said. “It’s probably one of the best ones in sports. You always want to come out on top when you have these kind of games. I know our team is going to do everything we can to be there and win that game.”
