Don’t be surprised if Team USA gets off to a slower start than expected against Japan. At the Tokyo Olympics, the U.S. fell behind by seven points just over three minutes into their opening game against Nigeria. They even trailed, 20-17, after the first quarter. Team USA rallied, won the opener by nine points, and went undefeated in the tournament, but the first period of its first game was a reminder that not everything will be perfect.
Like the Tokyo group that eventually won gold, this year’s U.S. national team is favored to take home top honours at the Paris Olympics, but it might take some time for everything, and everyone, to mesh.
