Thursday was a busy confirmation hearing day with hearings for Kash Patel for FBI Director, Tulsi Gabbard for Director of Nation Intelligence, and a second day of hearings for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Tulsi Gabbard opened her hearing with a lit statement breaking down some of the shocking weaponization of intelligence that has been going on. “This must end,” she exclaimed. She also had a mic drop moment where she said that the Democrats wanted to term her a puppet of foreign leaders because “I refuse to be their puppet.”
Folks like Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) who is a hawk when it comes to things like Russia and China, was all in for her, saying she had five FBI background checks and was as “clean as a whistle.”

Yet that didn’t stop some Democrats like Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) from embarrassing themselves, suggesting she was repeating Russian propaganda. Kelly asked her why she claimed that in 2016 the Obama administration was providing help to al-Qaeda in Syria.
Her response was, basically “Because it’s true.”
Kelly probably ended up regretting asking that because she then dropped a dime on “Operation Timber Sycamore” and the effort to overthrow Bashir al-Assad under Barack Obama. It was stopped under President Donald Trump.

As she explained, her problem was that when you do things like that it tends to have the unhappy consequence of building up the Islamist extremists like al-Qaeda who she joined the military to help stop after 9/11. She pointed out how the “moderate rebels” were working with and aligned with al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Syria. She went on to note how a “regime change war” in Syria as elsewhere then led to the rise of Islamist extremists like al-Qaeda. She said she didn’t care about Assad, but now you had a leader there who danced in the streets on 9/11 to celebrate the attack.
“Why that is acceptable to anyone is beyond me,” she concluded.
Then after all that, Kelly said he was concerned about a “tendency” to repeat Russian, Syrian, and Iranian information. At what point do Democrats leave this line of attack of trying to drop Russia at every turn? It’s like trying to compare Trump to Hitler because Hitler drank water.
“You drink water and Hitler did too!!” How dare you say something that is true because Russia said it!

The effort did not go over well. One might even say, “Timber” to this “Sick-a-more” move.
This exchange was hilarious.
Kelly: Why did you say that the Obama admin armed al-Qaeda in Syria?
Tulsi: Because it’s literally true.
Kelly: Okay, but are you aware that Russians and Iranians also say that??? https://t.co/pD9VNsIqlE

In this exchange one finds one of the most common and destructive premises of establishment DC discourse:
If you criticize the US Govt or its war policies, then you’re guilty of promoting Russian or Chinese propaganda.
Patriotism requires clapping like a trained seal for DC: https://t.co/5rAIRtSLMx
