Vice President Kamala Harris, after having spent years ignoring the border crisis despite being appointed as the “border czar,” is finally making another trip to the southern border as she attempts to persuade the nation that she is truly intent on solving the crisis.
I’ll give you a minute to finish laughing.
You good? Okay, let’s continue.
Former President Donald Trump mocked Harris after reports of her planned visit surfaced.
Speaking to supporters in Georgia, Trump brought up reports Harris will travel to Arizona on Friday to see the border for the first time as the Democratic nominee.
“She’s going to the border very soon. She hasn’t been there for four years,” Trump said of Harris, adding that when she served as vice president, “she didn’t do anything.”
“When Kamala is seen at the border on Friday, she will pass hundreds of miles of wall that was built by Trump, and it’s wall that really works,” he added.
The criticism did not stop there. On Trump’s campaign website, his team pointed out Harris’ incompetence on the border issue, referring to her upcoming visit as “a con job.”
No eleventh hour visit by Kamala Harris to the southern border this week — her first in 1,187 days and the clearest indication yet of her humiliating desperation — can mask the unbearable devastation she has unleashed on innocent Americans.
It’s a con job. Kamala opened the door to tens of millions of unvetted illegals from the worst parts of the world and imported violent criminals, terrorists, and gang members who have stolen Americans’ jobs, housing, and sense of security.
Several others, including former Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott and CNN commentator Scott Jennings, criticized the vice president for pretending to care about the problems with immigration as the election draws closer.

don’t forget that VP Harris created the crisis when they intentionally invited the world to enter the US illegally, and then released them after they illegally entered. https://t.co/pNeqRA9qRB

Immigration has been a pressing issue for voters, especially after President Joe Biden and Harris took office. Shortly after, swarms of illegal immigrants and asylum seekers began traveling to the southern border to gain entry into the United States. The influx has overwhelmed major cities across the country as well as border towns.
Trump and others on the right have consistently lambasted the Biden-Harris administration for its failure to deal with the problem. During her stint as vice president, Harris only visited the southern border once – after a barrage of criticism coming from the left and right. She continually gave absurd excuses for neglecting the situation at the southern border.
Mr. Trump and Republicans have blamed Ms. Harris for the large numbers of migrants crossing into the United States from Mexico over the past several years. Early in his administration, Mr. Biden made Ms. Harris responsible for addressing the root causes of migration from Latin America.
But she struggled in that role and drew criticism after telling the NBC News host Lester Holt in a 2021 interview, when he asked why she had not yet visited the southern border, that she had “never been to Europe” either. The Trump campaign has used that exchange in advertisements attacking her record on immigration. Ms. Harris traveled to the border soon after her interview with Mr. Holt.
Harris’ visit is about as likely to convince voters that she is serious about the border crisis as I am to win a beauty pageant. The voting public already knows Trump would be a far better choice on the border if he is elected. A New York Times/Siena Poll revealed that 54 percent favored the former president on immigration while only 43 percent preferred Harris.
