Tuesday night’s debate between JD Vance and Tim Walz included several “soft” topics, which the moderators lingered over in lieu of asking the candidates hoping to hold the second most important role in the world as vice president of the United States about–topics like massive giveaways to Ukraine and rampant crime rates in our nation under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

One of the topics that might fall under the former category is where each campaign stands on the abortion procedure–specifically, whether former President Donald Trump supports, as some Republicans have, putting in place a national abortion ban.

It’s something that came up during Tuesday’s debate between Vance and Walz, during which the Democrat blatantly misrepresented the Republican platform, along with conservative thinking on the proper level of government for abortion laws to be decided. Walz also lied about the law in Minnesota, where he serves as the current governor. Watch as he shamelessly quotes the Bible to defend making abortion legal up to birth:

Immediately, Trump dashed off a clear message to Democrats–again-on where he stands, in a new post on his Truth Social account; It was simultaneously shared on the official Trump account on X:

The full post reads:

Everyone knows I would not support a federal abortion ban, under any circumstances, and would, in fact, veto it, because it is up to the states to decide based on the will of their voters (the will of the people!)

Like Ronald Reagan before me, I fully support the three exceptions for rape, incest, and the life of the mother.

I do not support the Democrats’ radical position of late term abortion like, as an example, in the 7th, 8th, or 9th month or, in case there is any question, the possibility of execution of the baby after birth.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Indeed, Harris has a clear and well-known record of supporting the most extreme leftist stance on abortion. She was pressed during an interview in May to state when abortion should be cut off. She couldn’t give an answer. So, does her running mate, as Walz has shown during his time as Minnosota’s governor. The CEO of the conservative, pro-life group, Minnesota Family Council, called pro-abortion legislation that Walz signed into law “abortion up to birth,” while deeming Democrats’ pairing of Harris-Walz as “the most radical on abortion … in American history.”

It’s also worth remembering that Walz didn’t just start lying about the Trump-Walz position on abortion on Tuesday. Back during his nomination acceptance speech at the Democrat National Convention (DNC), as my colleague Mike Miller wrote, he said:

the Republican ticket “will ban abortion across this country with or without Congress.” Trump and Vance voiced support for a national ban of some kind in the past, but now both say the abortion issue should be left to the states.

There’s no excuse for Democrats, including Walz, to continue gaslighting everyone on what position the Republican ticket has on this.

For what it’s worth, here’s Vance’s opinion from 2022 (which many outlets on the left, including the NY Times, tried to deceptively edit back in the summer):

Readers will probably recall too, that during the sole presidential debate in September between Harris and Trump, one of the topics where the former president had to debate two competitors–that is, the moderators’ one-sided fact-checking of Trump–was abortion. My colleague Jennifer Oliver O’Connell wrote:

One of the overtly blatant moments of pitching for Harris was when Trump gave his response on Roe v. Wade and abortion. Trump cogently explained his stance — that Roe was no longer a federal issue but had been given back to the states to decide.

Some things never change with these folks, it seems.
