Somehow, the pile of trouble that Fulton County DA Fani Willis is in over her relationship with the man she appointed to be a special prosecutor in the election case against former President Donald Trump and other defendants just seems to keep getting worse.

On Thursday, there was a hearing on the relationship and whether they should be disqualified from the case.

The hearing almost immediately began to go south for Willis when one of the witnesses, a former close friend and employee of hers, Robin Yeartie, testified that the relationship began in 2019, contradicting what both Willis and Wade told the court previously, and two years before Willis hired Wade as a special prosecutor in the case.

Yeartie testified that she had “no doubt” Willis and Wade were in a relationship. She said that they began dating after meeting at a conference in 2019. She said she had seen them “hugging” and “kissing.”

That’s a huge thing to the case because not only might it give more reason for Judge Scott McAfee to disqualify Willis and Wade, but if the judge determines Wade and Willis were not telling the truth to the Court, that could be very bad for Wade, Willis, and their careers.

Ashleigh Merchant, the lawyer for Michael Roman, one of the defendants in the case, had another potential witness who could contradict Willis and Wade — a former partner of Wade, Terrance Bradley. Merchant alleged he could also testify the relationship began before 2022, as Willis and Wade claimed. But Bradley refused to testify, claiming attorney-client privilege.

Then Nathan Wade testified, again saying the affair began in 2022. He also raised a lot of questions with what he said. Merchant asked him about the spending for trips with Willis, which could potentially be taken as a benefit to Willis. Wade tried to deflect from that with a response that I don’t think many bought. He claimed that Willis paid him back for the trips in cash, so there was no record.

So naturally, he was asked whether he deposited the cash, and he said no.

“I did not deposit the cash into my account,” Wade said.

“You don’t have a single, solitary deposit slip?” Gillan asked.

“No, sir,” Wade answered.

Gillan asked Wade if he kept the cash in his home, to which Wade answered no.

“The only special place that the cash would have gone would have been to one of my children,” Wade said.

He also claimed that their relationship stopped in 2023.

I’m not the judge. But I think if I were, I’d be having some serious issues with this.
