You can sense Brendan Rodgers marking his territory on this one.
The initial plan for Celtic was to sign Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney permanently or on loan in the current window, but that is looking increasingly unlikely.
So, Rodgers has gone public to make sure everyone knows the verbal agreement exists for a few months’ time. Rodgers said:
💬 “We’re agreed it will definitely take place in the summer but if we can do it beforehand, then great.
“I don’t know (if he can sign this month). We’ve prepared that for the summer. I don’t want to speak too much on it because he’s not a Celtic player here now.
“If we’re able to do it (this month), of course we would like to. But that’s out of our control.”
Rodgers previously managed Tierney during his first spell at Celtic, while Tierney is set to be out of contract come the summer — which does lend credence to Rodgers’ confidence.
