Paris Saint-Germain have signed Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov from Krasnodar, the French champions announced Friday.

The 25-year-old has joined on a five-year contract and is expected to provide competition to the club’s established first-choice goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, with Keylor Navas’ contract expiring this summer.

“I’m really happy to be joining Paris Saint-Germain, one of the world’s biggest clubs in terms of its history and what it has won. I can’t wait to meet my new team-mates, defend my new colours and make the fans proud. Allez Paris!” Safonov said.
