The second season of Tracker started out with Justin Hartley‘s Colter hooking up with a new character played by Floriana Lima.
During the premiere, which aired on Sunday, October 13, viewers learned there was a case that has been on Colter’s mind for the past decade. Lima is introduced as Camille, whose sister went missing 10 years prior only for the disappearance to never get solved. Every anniversary, Colter seeks out the main suspect to try to get information out of him before visiting Camille.
“It has been a rough few days. Every year it is the same,” Camille told Colter before they had sex. “How about we just don’t talk for a while? I just really want to feel something that is not … you know.”
The pair later spoke about Camille’s missing sister — and the suspect that Colter visited.
“I just wanted him to know that I am still watching. I let myself into his house and had a look around. I found a sample of his handwriting. I thought maybe we could compare it to the letters that you got,” he shared. “There is something else that was weird that I found in his house. I looked in his fridge and there was a bad of dirt in his freezer. He said he was having it tested for toxins.”
Colter continued: “I know we are missing something. One of these days I am going to find something that puts him in the parking lot the night Gina disappeared. He was there — I know in my gut he was there.”
Before the season 2 premiere, it was confirmed that Lima was joining the cast as someone from Colter’s past. Camille was specifically referred to as Colter’s “off-and-on lover for at least the past” 10 years. This might come as a surprise to some fans — including Us — who are rooting for Colter to reunite with his ex Billie (Sofia Pernas).
The trailer for the second season teased Pernas’ return. This marks the third time Hartley, 47, and Pernas, 35, have worked together. The couple originally met on the set of The Young and The Restless in 2015. They subsequently went their separate ways before reconnecting years later off screen. They tied the knot in 2021. Hartley and Pernas collaborated on Quantum Leap before she joined Tracker.
“My idea was to tease that and intentionally name the character Billie, and then reveal that Billie is, of course, Sofia. We didn’t get to tease that as much as I would have liked, just because we were so pressed with time. But that was the intention,” Hartley told Deadline in May. “Then when she came on, to be honest with you, I’m not sure how much of that character aspect that she brought was actually written.”
That same month, Hartley discussed how Pernas would be back for more episodes, adding, “You’re just watching a talented actor. There were a few things we had the benefit of discussing privately that, normally, you don’t have time to do that. But when you live with the person, you can talk about that stuff at dinner, and go, ‘Hey, what about this?’ So we really got a chance to have a dialogue about that.”
Hartley recently spoke with Us Weekly what perks came from him sharing the screen with his wife.
“She’s wonderful. I mean, if I had my choice, I’d spend every minute with her,” he gushed to Us in July. “What’s really cool is when you meet someone that means so much to you, that you’re so proud to be with and so proud of, and just such a fan of, and to get to see her work, because she’s such a talented actor. She elevates scenes, and so it makes my job easier, actually. But yeah, it’s just wonderful to work with her.”
Tracker airs on CBS Sundays at 8 p.m. ET. New episodes stream the next day on Paramount+.
