Trace Cyrus thinks Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s relationship is doomed if the producer continues to believe the Only Murders in The Building star is out of his league.
Cyrus, who is the older brother of Miley Cyrus, took to his Instagram Story on Thursday, March 6, to weigh in on their romance and share some relationship advice.
Sharing a media headline that reads, “Benny Blanco Admits He’s Scared Selena Gomez Will Leave Him,” Cyrus, 36, wrote that he believed that kind of sentiment from Blanco will be the “Nail in the coffin for the relationship.” He then added a coffin emoji.
“He spoke it into existence. While openly admitting he thinks she’s too good for him,” Cyrus continued. “Men don’t have to be attractive to be with a beautiful woman. They just need to have confidence.”
Cyrus went on to praise Blanco and described both members of the couple as being equally deserving of one another.
“I don’t know Benny personally but I love him as a producer and have watched every podcast he’s done. Love his personality. And in my view she’s just as lucky to be with him as he is with her,” Cyrus explained. “That’s the mindset he needs if the relationship is going to last.”
Cyrus then doubled down on suggesting Blanco — and seemingly men in general — need to be confident if they want their relationships to last.

“Unfortunately nice guys really do finish last. I hope he doesn’t let all the press and jokes get to him about their relationship,” Cyrus added. “Confidence is key as a man and unfortunately women think they want to be put on a pedestal but as soon as you act like they are superior in the relationship they start to lose respect.”
Blanco and Gomez, who announced their engagement in December 2024, opened up about their relationship in Interview magazine on Valentine’s Day last month.
In the article, which Cyrus was referencing in his post, Blanco shared his fears that Gomez might leave him one day.
“I’m so scared she’s just going to wake up and be like, ‘What? No.’” he said.
Describing Gomez as his “best friend” Blanco also revealed that he knew she was The One from the get-go.
“You know when you think you met the right person, you’re like, ‘Oh my god.’ But it feels so different,” he told the outlet. “The second we started hanging out, I was like, ‘This is my wife.’ I was telling my mom, ‘This is the girl I’m going to marry.”
