As I’ve watched President Donald Trump’s incredible energy over the last three days and the number of issues he pledged to accomplish, a thought has run through my head several times: This must all feel like death by 1,000 cuts to the Democrat Party and left as a whole.

At least those who are rational enough to see it.

As some on our side have said, Trump accomplished more in the first 48 hours of his second term than former President Joe Biden accomplished during four years of his miserably failed presidency.

Now, an unlikely admirer of Trump’s fast start, former Biden pollster and top Democrat Party strategist Celinda Lake, has said the quiet part out loud. (I’m not fond of the trite, overly-used phrase, but it so fits, in this case.)

During an appearance on journalist Mark Halperin’s “2WAY Tonight” podcast, Lake, one of the best-known and respected Democrat pollsters in the country, was effusive about Trump’s start.

He showed the power of solo executive leadership, he’s shown that he brings about change, he’s been decisive and seemed on top of it. He seemed confident, and I think he did a really good job. His numbers are improving, and even though [some] people disagree with his policies, they think he’s doing a good job.

Lake stands in stark contrast to Democrats like Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and far-left Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren — along with members of the lapdog left-wing media, of course — who have compared Trump to “Hitler,” called him a “fascist,” a “white supremacist” et al., and have derided Trump supporters as “Nazis” and “garbage.”

Lake also admonished Democrats to stop trashing Trump — at least for now — which is sage advice, given that the worse the left spewed about Trump throughout the primaries, the more it played to his advantage and helped lead him to a decisive win in November.

I have my own metaphor from Montana, which I’m an avid angler and fisherman, and when you’re trying to catch a big fish, we have a saying, ‘Keep the line taught and let it out.’ This is his moment. Give him his moment, and hopefully, he’ll take that line way out, and we can pull him in.

Lest you’re inclined to jump all over Lake for her last comment, remember: she’s a Democrat strategist. As is the case with Republican strategists and politicans, it’s her job to advise Democrats how best to accomplish their objectives.

That said, it’s remarkable that a top Democrat would just come out objectively acknowledge Trump’s impressive early wins, particularly given the bitterness that still exists — I expect it always will — in the minds of some on the left. I’d like to believe that conservative pundits would have done the same thing if Kamala Harris had won the election.

I’m joking.

The radical San Francisco leftist and her equally leftist screwball sidekick, would-be vice president, Minnesota Tim Walz, would have immediately gone about continuing to destroy America as we knew it, pre-Biden-Harris administration. Thank God, that’s not going to happen anymore, as President Donald J. Trump not only likes to say — he’s now proving it, hour by hour.
