Tom Cotton Demolishes Kristen Welker When She Starts to Spew on 'Misinformation' About FEMA Money

The White House has been playing word games in the context of the Hurricane Helene disaster, calling questions about how the government has responded and concerns over the distribution of FEMA money “misinformation.”

We reported on that earlier when White House Press Secretary and new “Senior Adviser” Karine Jean-Pierre bristled at being asked how the White House can have money to give $157 million to Lebanon but then tell us they’re running out of money for FEMA if there’s more storm damage after Helene.  KJP had a fit, called it misinformation, and walked out.

The problem is there are legitimate questions that they should be asking, but they think it’s a response just to call everything “misinformation” and walk out. This is one of the reasons the public has lost patience with the Biden administration and doesn’t believe what they have to say. It’s why, I think, Joe and Jill Biden finally came out to make something of a statement to the nation in a “Good Morning America” post on X about the hurricane, saying the “nation is with you” to those affected. But people aren’t buying it.

On top of this, now they have the media going all in on the misinformation narrative, as our sister site Townhall reported.

On Sunday’s “Meet the Press,” NBC’s Kristen Welker claimed people were spreading “falsehoods” about FEMA funds, “Do you think this is a time to put falsehoods aside like FEMA funds being redirected to migrants?”

But Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) was having none of that. He shut that down with the facts.

“It is true that FEMA and DHS have been spending billions of dollars on migrants,” he declared. This is a word game the Biden team is playing about the funds.

“This administration seems to have no problem finding money when they want to spend it on their priorities,” Cotton continued.

That’s exactly the point that Doocy was making when he was talking about the Biden team coming up with $157 million for Lebanon.

Whatever the origin of the funding of the money, it is now being used through FEMA for NGOs to help illegal aliens. And it’s all on the taxpayers’ dime, regardless of whatever department to which it is apportioned.

Here’s what the new senior adviser said about it on Friday, but then what she admitted about the money being spent from FEMA for illegal aliens in 2022.

Here’s what FEMA says on their Shelter and Services program:

FEMA provides funds to NGOs to provide “humanitarian services to noncitizen migrants.” And that’s hundreds of millions of dollars.

Why is there such a separate program, to begin with?

So, if DHS head Alejandro Mayorkas says that there isn’t going to be enough in the near future for disasters after Helene, then yes, we have a right to ask why and ask where all the money is going, and why the money of the American taxpayers is being used as it is.

Good on Tom Cotton for blowing up this narrative.
