Tinker and Vance AFB suspends Trusted Traveler Program, 100% ID checks begin

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. (KFOR) — Tinker Air Force Base (TAFB) officials suspended its Trusted Traveler Program on Friday citing by order of the U.S. Northern Command commander, during the suspension period, a 100% ID check will be enforced at all gates for individuals 18-years-old and over.

According to TAFB, individuals without a DoD-issued ID card are required to visit the Tinker Visitor Center during business hours to get a visitor’s pass. The Tinker Visitor Center is located at the Tinker Gate on Air Depot Blvd, and is open from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

When the Visitor Center is not open, a mobile patrol will process the request for a pass at the gate, but expect significant delays. All non-DoD visitors will undergo standard identification checks and security procedures, regardless of their affiliation with a DoD-ID holder.

TAFB says, they are committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment and have full confidence in its ability to maintain a strong security posture while continuing to execute the mission. Additionally confirming, the safety and security of the installation, personnel and families remain top priority.

Vance Air Force Base has also announced late afternoon Friday that they will be suspending the Trusted Traveler Program until further notice.
