We wrote earlier about the story of Joe Biden going to Shanksville, Pennsylvania, to commemorate 9/11. That’s the spot where Flight 93 went down when the passengers heroically tried to take back the plane. Biden visited with first responders and their families at the fire station.
Then came this funny report out of the exchange — that Biden somehow ended up with a Trump hat on his head.

In addition to the fun of it being a Trump hat, the way he wears it is reminiscent of Mike Dukakis and the helmet.

Now, there’s more on the back story, and it’s pretty funny.
Biden apparently offered one of the local men, a Trump supporter, a presidential hat. He then said he had to have the man’s hat, the Trump hat. The frank exchange was hilarious.

Biden said he would autograph the hat he offered the man.
The man, who clearly was a humorist, needled him, “You remember your name?”
Biden replied, “I don’t remember my name, I’m too old.”
“You’re an old fart,” the man teased.
“Yeah, I know, I’m an old guy,” Biden responded. He teased back, “I know you wouldn’t know about that,” to the man, who probably wasn’t 81 but wasn’t young.
“He reminds me of the guys I grew up with, there was always one in the neighborhood,” Biden groused.
After he finished signing the hat, Biden then said to the man, “I need that hat!” referring to the man’s Trump hat.
The man immediately took it off and offered it to him, asking if Biden wanted his autograph. “Hell no,” said Biden.
Then the man, already a hero, tried to go for the brass ring and urged him to put the hat on.
“I ain’t going that far,” Biden replied.
The man goaded him, “Come on!’ and then Biden gave in, putting it on, and prompting great laughter.
The man clapped and said, “I’m proud of you now, you old fart!”
Not all héroes wear capes, and that guy probably isn’t going to have to buy a beer anytime soon. What a legend.
Biden had to slip in something weird, saying, “No eating dogs and cats!” I think that was meant as a shot to Trump’s debate comment about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, allegedly eating pets. So Biden couldn’t hold back from digging at them.
On top of that, Biden also took pictures with kids, several of whom were wearing Trump shirts, including the Trump shirt “I’ll be back,” a riff on the “Terminator” movie line. “Breaking 911” even joked that Biden “endorses Trump.”

Biden had been trolled by kids at the same station previously wearing Trump gear, so it looks like it’s become something of a tradition. Biden had a surprised look on his face in that picture, which makes me wonder if he was aware of what the kids were wearing.

Biden spokesperson Andrew Bates said Biden wore the Trump hat for “bipartisan unity.”
Uh-huh. The same guy who has demonized MAGA people as extremists for years. That tells you, too, that his whole shtick about Trump being a “threat to democracy” is just so much bunk.
But what was especially funny was the optics coming out of it — you know the Trump people are going to have fun with it, and the Kamala folks have to be thinking, “Darn, Joe, what were you thinking?” Some on X questioned if this was Joe’s effort to take a humorous jab back at Kamala for being shoved aside, providing Trump with some fodder. Given Joe’s nasty side, I could see that.
