The Media Isn't Terrified That 'the End of Democracy Is Nigh'—They're Terrified of Being Wrong

A few days ago, I wrote a story about CBS reporting that FEMA had pulled back teams in North Carolina, partly because of an email from one park ranger claiming armed gangs of good old boys were out “a-huntin’” FEMA Feds. Of course, there was no such thing. Gangs of Appalachians’ huntin’ for Feds was about as likely as Jussie Smollett being attacked by two MAGA-hat-wearing thugs who happened to have a noose and a bottle of bleach at 2 a.m. in the middle of a Chicago snowstorm.

No sane person believed that sort of nonsense. Well, Kamala Harris did, which gives us a hint into her critical thinking skills. Kool-Aid-drinking Democrat cultists believe those stories because the priests of their religion have told them it’s true. Cultists never have to think — they just need to believe. That’s how cultists roll. The congregation believes that, if elected, Trump will cause the “end of democracy.” The end of civilizations. The Donald will don a Darth Vader costume and start a reign of terror, or something. The sane can laugh about it, but cultists actually do believe that.

They believe that Trump will morph into Adolf, Vlad the Terrible, Mussolini, or a combination of all the dictators over time. Cultists believe that nonsense because they have been attending cult services for so long that they don’t need to critically assess claims for the “how” or “why.” It’s a given that it will happen, and they believe. Who preaches to them? Who tells them Smollett was a victim, toothless Hatfields and McCoys are huntin’ Feds, or democracy will crash and burn if Trump is elected? Talking heads of media are their high priests. I could cite dozens if not hundreds of examples of hyperventilating talking heads warning us that the end is nigh if Trump is elected. Molly Jong-Fast warns of the coming apocalypse in Vanity Fair. I won’t regurgitate most of her pablum, but below is a summary of her latest sermon:

She begins with:

[A]s a public-facing person, I will continue to be subjected to threats, as many in the mainstream media already are. But attacks on the media could escalate if Trump returns to power, given that he doesn’t hesitate to demonize journalists and call them out before his millions of followers. And given what Trump says on television, he may target American citizens for unfavorable speech.

She goes on to say, “It’s hard to fathom, but there’s a world where Trump imitates his strongman friends like Vladimir Putin or Viktor Orbán or Kim Jong Un—all of whom participate in jailing or killing journalists in countries with state-regulated media.”

Molly also laments that Trump will round up illegal aliens and deport them, claiming that that would be like the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII. Pro Tip Molly, your Democrat hero—FDR—was the president who illegally rounded up US citizens.

Molly ends with this:

While we don’t know precisely what a second Trump term will look like, it’ll surely be chaotic and bleak, and could mark the end of something we certainly don’t want to lose: democracy as we know it

Emphasis mine.

That last paragraph isn’t new ground. It isn’t a new sermon. It has been repeated ad nauseum by the media, and Kamala Harris is getting shriller repeating it. Do people like Jong-Fast really believe their nonsense? Some do, but I think the majority of talking heads are simply in the final stages of losing their bet. They put all their money on a losing horse, and they are getting very shrill about losing. Simply, they don’t want to lose with the shame of picking the wrong horse. That their predictions of doom will never come true is what bothers them the most. In four years, they fear being collectively reminded of their “Heaven’s Gate” prediction – and that it didn’t come to pass. They also know that if Trump isn’t elected, they can avoid the mockery of “I told you so”.

A Trump presidency won’t have “camps.” There isn’t going to be a Camp Rachel Maddow or a Camp Brian Stelter. The National Guard isn’t going to round up complainers. Media isn’t going to be shut down. Mark Milley won’t be called back to service. Trump can’t “court martial” you, General Eyebags. Pro Tip: Doing so would be “Unlawful Command Influence” and is void on its face. Milley knows that. But TDS has rotted his brain.

What is my point? Simple. Media and nutty influencers are scared of one thing, and it’s not a Trump presidency. Sure, they don’t want to see a “President Trump”, but they are mostly terrified of being wrong. Deep down, media types know that Trump isn’t going to round them up. Four years from now, they will have no “camps” to point to and that “end of democracy comet” will have passed by. By a million miles. They will be mocked for years for being moronic cultists. It’s that simple.

Mocked relentlessly for being massively wrong is their fear. They’re terrified of preaching a false religion.
