Even as Los Angeles burns, the California legislature is holding a special session at the behest of Gov. Gavin Newsom to “Trump-proof” the state. This is among the many choices the Golden State’s “leadership” continues to make, and once again, it’s not about competence, the people, or the quality of life in the state—it’s about pushing a woke, leftist agenda.
As RedState’s Bonchie reported Monday, the elegantly coiffed governor and state lawmakers have agreed to allot $50 million toward fighting Trump’s expected policies, especially on immigration. No word yet on how that helps wildfire victims who have lost everything.
There’s a governor on the other side of the country, however, who shows actual leadership and a vision to improve his state; his name is Ron DeSantis, and he’s taking the exact opposite approach of Gavin:
🚨 JUST IN: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has just released his plan to carry out President Trump’s MASS DEPORTATIONS after Jan. 20 in the special session.
Here it is. Holy cow.
Basically every deterrent and authority you can think of. Trump has an ally in Florida. Other states… pic.twitter.com/4J5tF9iAAA

Other states should follow this model.
You see, he’s calling for a special session of his own, but his goal is to assist the soon-to-be president of the United States instead of attempting to thwart the will of the people, who voted in overwhelming numbers for Donald Trump and his agenda.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is calling state lawmakers into a special session to help carry out President-elect Donald Trump’s promises for a swift crackdown on immigration…
Trump is preparing more than 100 executive orders starting Day One of the new White House administration, in what amounts to a shock-and-awe campaign on border security, deportations and a rush of other policy priorities.

The special session will commence the week of Jan. 27, the week after Trump is sworn in. “State and local officials in Florida must help the Trump administration enforce our nation’s immigration laws,” DeSantis said. “In order to do that effectively, we are going to need legislation to impose additional duties on local officials and provide funding for those local officials.”
He had more to say in a press conference Wednesday, and detailed what some of the measures might look like:
BREAKING: DeSantis announces legislative proposal for special session that involves allowing local law enforcement to deport illegals if approved by Trump administration
It will include:
– New criminal penalties that apply on the state level for illegal entry
– Repeal in-state… pic.twitter.com/xKFhwV3U2t— Florida’s Voice (@FLVoiceNews) January 15, 2025
The post continued:
It will include:
– New criminal penalties that apply on the state level for illegal entry
– Repeal in-state tuition for illegal aliens
– Require voter registration affirmation of citizenship
– Heighten penalties for voter fraud committed by illegals
– Mandate ID verification for remittance transfers – Broaden gang enforcement
– Create a presumption that illegal aliens are flight risks and thus, deny bail for any that are being held
My unsolicited suggestion to Newsom, if he wants to continue his political career, is to head down to Florida and study what Ron DeSantis is doing. It’s called “leadership,” and it’s not… whatever it is you’re doing, Gavin.
