According to data from home services company Angi (ANGI), 67% of homeowners prefer renovating their current homes to moving, with 93% planning home improvement projects in 2025.

Angi co-founder Angie Hicks joins Wealth to discuss the current home renovation landscape. She identifies two primary concerns among homeowners undertaking projects: finding qualified contractors and managing unexpected budget challenges.

For securing the right professional, Hicks emphasizes due diligence: “Do your homework.” She advises checking reviews, utilizing home services websites, and “don’t wait till the last minute” to find contractors and build relationships.

Regarding budgets, Hicks acknowledges that high inflation and interest rates have elevated renovation costs. Nevertheless, she points out that homeowners are “still spending a lot more on home improvement” compared to five to six years ago.
