Is AI going to make us all more productive at work? Executives are feeling optimistic, but workers aren’t quite as convinced.

That’s according to a new study from freelancing marketplace Upwork. The company says it surveyed 2,500 executives, full-time employees, and freelancers across the US, UK, Australia and Canada and asked them about their views on AI in the workplace.

Apparently 96 percent of C-suite executives said they expect AI to increase their company’s productivity, and 39 percent say their companies are already mandating the use of AI tools.

In contrast, 77 percent of workers said AI has actually decreased their productivity and added to their workload. And 47 percent of them said they have no idea how to achieve the productivity gains that their bosses are expecting.
